Around Britain Circumnavigation

Three boats from Lower Halstow Yacht Club (one sailed by the new MSBA webmaster) will be setting off in the next couple of days on a circumnavigation of Great Britain, a voyage of over 2000 miles. Follow our progress here https://lhyc.org.uk/gb24/ It is hoped that the trip will raise some funds to support the Sheerness RNLI Lifeboat 200 year appeal. Visit the Just Giving page here to donate.

Jeddo is sailed by MSBA Webmaster, David Metcalfe.

Admirals Cruise of the River Medway 2024 – Updated

In a centuries old tradition, the Admiral of the River (the Mayor of
Medway) "beats the bounds" of the Rochester fishery from the Hawkwood
Stone, near Snodland, to Sheerness. The event is run on behalf of the
Mayor by Rochester Cruising Club with Rochester Oyster and Floating
Fishery but all clubs and marinas on the River Medway are invited to
take part.  Boats from other clubs can join the convoy up the river on
Saturday and down to Sheerness on Sunday. A skippers' briefing will take
place on Friday 5th July at RCC for those interested.

As the convoy passes each club or marina, the Admiral's barge will fire
a gun salute or sound a bugle and dip her ensign. We hope to get a
response in kind. RCC will issue invitations to relevant organisations.

Other organisations that participate in and support the cruise include
Peel Ports, Svitzer tugs, RNLI, Kent Police, Maritime Volunteer Service
and Medway Town Sea Cadets.

SB Ardwina – London to Lower Halstow

This Monday, Ardwina will depart St Katherine Docks, her home of 45 years. for her new life at Lower Halstow.

We’ve been dodging the awful weather to try and get Edith May rigged out and ready too, as we’ll be sailing to London to meet her at 1230pm as she leaves St Kats.

The two barges will have a photoshoot in front of the iconic Tower Bridge, before heading back downriver to arrive at Halstow for early afternoon on Tuesday.

Once she’s back, we’ll be hosting an open day and will be releasing our plans for the summer.
