The Red2Red team with their new zero emissions vessel spent the week clearing litter and generally tidying up the Rochester shoreline supported by Rochester Bridge Trust and Rochester Cruising Club. The rubbish was lifted out by Gillingham Marina and taken offsite for sorting and recycling. A great team effort from organisations with a real care for the river.
Superb effort! It’s these local initiatives, as always, that make the real difference to our environment. We’ll done and thanks to all involved from a humble member of the public.
It is a great shame that the same “care” hasn’t been offered by the council to Rochester pier. After years of neglect, this iconic pier has finally fallen. If that wasn’t bad enough, the lack of effort to deal with what is now a wreck, has resulted in considerable debris floating up and down the river.
Big shout out to the Red2Red team and volunteers. Really appreciate your efforts. Cheers.
