It’s rare that I ever want my say in denial of housing, but here is another get rich quick development not for the first time buyers, but for those who have deep pockets, in the UK at this time there are two major problems, minimum low wage, the affordable one bedroom first time buyer flat, which is just a dream for anyone on £25000 to £30000 before tax, as the income free tax is not even in line with the cost of living in the UK, it’s time planners told developers what they build, not just rubber stamp a development that suits the pocket of those concerned, we need in this UK tower block one bedroom flats specifically for first time buyers who want a home that is affordable on an income of £25000 to £30000, not that classic word used by even the church the AFFORDABLE home what is that in real money nobody knows it’s like elastic you earn a lot you can afford a lot, you earn little you can afford nothing, there are parts of the world that are understanding that income and housing are the start of the roots in a country, the UK USA EU have abandoned that basic requirement and lack of income housing have led to crime, illegal immigrants are making it worse they are leaving their countries for the same reason and are told the west will give you all well that is just hype, they will end up on the streets, even if they work, this development is just not fit for purpose, the £100000 flat needs to be built now not £350000 2 bed homes, that only those with high end jobs can afford, unless the UK government want more young people on the street because they will be going the other way to the east, better to earn less but live better in the east, wake up Gillingham council because a young couple with no children can afford nothing on minimum wage, but they can a £100000 flat, and not a rent buy flat, that’s just moving the goal posts to suit the developers & the lenders, just a means of charging more for the flat, and that is another government mistake, councils in this respect can change all that, by building a development of flats, they do it in Cambodia see the Polaris 23 development, new tower blocks of one bed flats are being built at a purchase price of a $40000 sq mt at $ 1000 sq m2, with parking on ground floors, 4 fire escapes sprinklers in the entire building and rooms, maintenance at $ 1-00 to $ 1-5 a sq m2, if Cambodia can do it for first time buyers young people, what’s the UK and the west’s excuse, that to me is simple that the Cambodian administration prime minister and king see the problem of housing as the first major roots problem, and the west UK USA EU just ignore this problem, as Gillingham council will and Niel starmer will as unaffordable, and build unaffordable houses for young people, btw before some Pratt says they earn a dollar a day live here for 12 years like I have and you will realise that that’s just a myth put about by those who want to justify £350000 two bed homes, there are poor here as there are in all countries world wide, except here in Cambodia they recognise that a home of one’s own is the first part of roots in a country you are born in,
Well said Toni! I totally agree with the above. We’ve forgotten about the important stuff like affordable housing. The wealthy just want to make even more money and the less wealthy are encouraged into “buy to let” mortgages with the intention of increasing their own wealth. This latter is driven by mortgage rates which result in high monthly rents. Yes we need affordable housing.
Can you give the difference in time and cost of fuel, for a similar journey of a diesel car, in comparison, as I believe the EV vehicle is not fit for purpose in nessarry electricity available to ever charge up multiple daily use vehicles, like it is to put diesel in a vehicle,
