Notice to Mariners 23 of 2025 – Sluice Weir

Mariners are advised that the safety boom protecting the sluice at Sluice Weir has been disconnected following an impact from a vessel.

Due to strong stream conditions and high flows, repair work cannot currently be undertaken safely. Once flow levels decrease, reinstating the boom will be treated as a priority.

With the boom out of position, the sluice is exposed and presents a significant hazard:

•   Canoeists must exercise extreme caution when approaching the canoe pass.
•   All vessels are strongly advised not to navigate in this area during strong stream conditions.

Mariners should proceed with heightened awareness and keep well clear of the sluice until further notice
