Don’t come adrift!
Kevin Beacon, Port Control Manager, reports that this winter there has been a noticeable increase in recreational craft coming adrift, sometimes with their mooring still attached. Mooring masters are asked to ensure that moorings are regularly maintained and that owners secure their boats properly.
Well done to MPA and Kevin’s team, we don’t always appreciate what these guys do in their tower (and definitely not an ivory tower) by spotting this boat had come off a mooring in Q/B harbour and there clever CCTV, because of shackle pin UN-winding itself (put there by owner), Recovered in nick of time by QHT staff…….lesson always put cable tie or wire thro eye of shackle pin/bolt!
