Notice to Mariners 18 of 2026 – Navigation Restrictions Update

The River Medway’s water levels are returning to normal following recent rainfall. As a result, we are able to remove the drought-related navigation restrictions that were previously in place at our sites. These restrictions will be lifted from this Sunday, 1st November 2026. Kent remains in drought status due to low groundwater levels. Depending on the amount of rainfall received over the winter, we may need to reintroduce navigation restrictions in Spring 2027. If this becomes necessary, users will be notified. We would also remind users that further increases in water levels may lead to Strong Stream warnings.
