Rodney Pell RIP

We have heard the sad news of the passing of Rodney Pell, owner of Sheemaun a gentleman’s motor yacht, built 1935, is a National Historic Ship based at Ramsgate. The massage from his wife Maura is reproduced below.

Dear Sirs

Very sadly my beloved Rodney passed away, suddenly at home on 19th November 2024, it was a heart problem and I think the only consolation is that he knew nothing about it.  

Sadly he won’t be able to sail his beloved motor yacht Sheemaun anymore but I hope to keep her going for at least another couple of years. 

Rodney was an Orthopaedic Surgeon and law society top tier, medico-legal expert. 

In his spare time Rodney was a very keen sailor and he spent his retirement restoring and subsequently writing a book about his beloved motor yacht Sheemaun.    Sheemaun was awarded the accolade of “Flagship of the United Kingdom 2010” by National Historic Ships, a government sponsored organisation which overseas the restoration and maintenance of the UK Historic Fleet.

Rodney is survived by  his wife Maura, six children Richard, Joanna, Rodney, Susanna, Geoffrey and James and eleven grandchildren.
