Peel Ports charges amended

The MSBA has received an amended tariff. The only difference we can see is that the Conservancy Charge of £87.69 for pleasure craft applicable from 1 April 2023 is now shown as INCLUSIVE of VAT. This represents an increase of 14.2% over 2022, being the rate of inflation (the obsolete RPI, not the officially preferred lower measure CPI) as at October. Other charges have been raised by a nice round 15%.

  1. When companies or agencies raise costs by more then the cost of living, example PLA 15% then why when inflation is 10%, do they need 5% more that creates more inflation, if the NHS need more to make their business non profit but cover its costs, then raise the money from business and NI as we all will need health care and medicines at some time or other, cradle to grave, so spare a thought for the PLA they have the same problems as any business, but I must say on the other hand comerciail business is who they should persue as sailing is not a business just a pass time, a mooring in the mud is different that’s permanent and should be chsrged, a conservancy charge is not permant is just a fee to sail up the Medway, why should locals pay but visitors go free, that is just profertiering on those who have no choice,
