The Medway Yacht Club’s clubhouse, with its outstanding views across the river, is the focal point for ‘Club Members’ year round social and sailing activities with excellent bar and restaurant facilities. Adopted racing classes are Keelboats: Cruisers, Dragons, Sonatas, Squibs, Dinghies: Wayfarers, Hornets and other dinghies race under the dinghy handicap handicap system. A new fleet of Optibats has been purchased providing perfect facilities for children to learn sailing at an early age. Racing for these is conducted at the weekend and in addition we hold a number of open events throughout the season. Junior and Cadet training, combined with regular racing is a major feature of the programme. In addition we host an annual regatta for keelboats and a number of open events including east coast championships, long distance racing and a Topper South East Area Championship.

The club offers a wide range of facilities – over 200 moorings, Wise 14 ton Travel Hoist, scrubbing trolley that runs on rails which can be used in conjunction with a static hoist to lift Dragons, Sonatas and cruisers up to 3 tons onto and off road trailers. We can provide winter storage for cruisers plus summer and winter parking for dinghies. The Club is an accredited RYA Training Centre and practical training courses are held regularly for dinghy sailing, motor boat (PB2), safety boat, first aid and GMDSS certificates and there are theoretical courses for other RYA certification, we also hold RYA Volvo status. Practical courses use the Club’s launches and Wayfarers. We operate a trot boat service at weekends and there is a floating pontoon.
