The Medway Cruising Club is one of the oldest cruising clubs in the UK and also one of the oldest in the world being originally established in 1895 to enable practical people to enjoy boating activities. The Club is located in two areas on the South bank of the River Medway at Gillingham. The dinghy park and clubhouse at “The Strand” leisure park and we have winter storage area and repair facilities including a 3 berth slip, dry dock, covered boat shed, and the workshops, at the “Anchorage” boat yard in nearby Waterside Lane. The Club is a non-profit making organization and is administered by a committee, elected from the membership.

The Medway Cruising Club’s primary objective is to provide affordable access to facilities that encourage active participation in sailing and motorboat cruising. Members own a wide variety of craft including sailing dinghies, cruising yachts, and motor cruisers. We also have a strong section whose interests lie in building and restoring traditional craft. A variety of gaffers, smacks and other wooden craft are owned and a Thames Barge is currently being rebuilt in the dry dock.

A full and well supported social programme of events and visits is held throughout the year.

We also run a weather station at our clubhouse at the Strand which you can access at www.medwaycruisingclub.org.uk/webcam-2/  to see the current weather conditions.
