It is almost time for the Frostbite Regatta 2025 from Greenwich Yacht Club to Erith Yacht Club and back!


Pontoon moorings will be available at Greenwich Yacht Club on Friday 07 Feb, and dinner will be served at EYC on Satuday night. Please email cruiser@greenwichyachtclub.co.uk to book a pontoon place at GYC and/or confirm that you will be joining for dinner. 
Frostbite Regatta 2025
Saturday 08 February
Briefing in the yard at GYC at 1130 
Race Start: 1300, no later than 1400
Tides at North Woolwich: LW 1541
Sunday 09 February
Briefing at EYC on VHF Channel 37 at 0800
Race Start: 0830, no later than 0930
Tides at North Woolwich HW 1044
Course details

Saturday
The start line is at Greenwich Yacht Club.
Course details will be confirmed at the briefing, but are likely to be as outlined below.
When sailing downriver, leave to port the following marks:Most northerly small yellow mooring buoy at Margaret NessTwo large mooring buoys at Thamesmead in Barking Reach Jenningtree buoy The last ship mooring buoy on Erith ReachJenningtree buoy (for a 2nd time)The last ship mooring buoy on Erith Rach (for a 2nd time)For further details on the marks, see this guide.
The finish line at Erith Yacht Club is the transit of an inverted black triangle at the top left corner of the EYC clubhouse over a white triangle. The finish line extends the entire width of the river.

Sunday: From Erith Yacht Club to Greenwich Yacht Club
The course will be confirmed during the race briefing on Sunday morning.

Handicap information
The Byron Sailing Race Handicap system will be used to score this race. The scoring system is as per Appendix A of the RRS using the Low Point System as per Appendix A, A4. 

Further information
👉 All skippers are to attend the briefing.
👉 Skippers are responsible for their passage plans.
👉 West of Margaret Ness to a line drawn due north from Blackwall Point, all boats must remain on the starboard side of the river. The start and finish lines at Greenwich Yacht Club only extend to the middle of the fairway.
👉 Skippers are to monitor VHF Ch 14 and VHF Ch 37 (Race Control)and keep a proper lookout at all times.
👉 Competitors’ third-party boat insurance must include an adequate racing cover with boats in good order / equipped to sail in the event.
👉 Competitors are fit to participate.
