Maritime Volunteer Service

The Medway Unit is one of around 30 units across the United Kingdom with a common goal of helping local communities both ashore and afloat. Members come from all walks of life and not always with previous maritime skills or training.

The MVS was formed in 1994 after the abolition of the Royal Navy Auxilliary Service and still continues some traditions such as wearing a Naval uniform. As a unit within the Medway Towns we work with a wide range of users from local yacht clubs, the port authority, local council, RNLI, police and many more.

As a member of the MVS you can learn many new skills from boat handling, RIB driving, passage planning, radio communication, safety & resilience training.
