CHARLIGHT is a tug of steel construction with a Gardner diesel engine, built in Holland in 1936, to be used on the River Thames by Charrington Gardner & Locket, coal merchants. The vessel continued in this trade until 1973. Charlight was hit by a V-1 bomb during WW2 which took all 3 crewmen’s lives.
The tug is maintained and operated by a group of three enthusiasts. Charlight is available for commercial use and is PLA licensed up to and including category D waters.
